Entry #7. My Blogging Experience

Blogging was a very cool experience, and I can't say it will be my last time. I have already had blogging experience when I use to play around with Tumblr. So, I would say it was sort of easy in a way. The difficult part was being able to come up with a good idea to blog about that will interest other people. The blogging experience for me was taken pretty seriously because a little part of blogging comes with judgment. Knowing people are going to judge my work, means I am going to present my work solid as a rock. I also added some pictures in there to make my work a little more interesting because I know when I am personally looking at a blog, (as you can see to the right and below all my blogs) I need pictures! I think my favorite thing about my blog is that every single blog entry topic is different from each other. If I was reading my blog from another point of view, I would honestly be pretty entertained with reading it. Using this blogging technique for my English class was helpful because it expanded my mind and writing quite a bit. It's not always fun writing huge essays over and over again. Overall, blogging for my English 101 class was a good experience for me.

Entry #6. The Day I Left Home for 62 Days.

One of the greatest opportunities people may get to do is to travel. Traveling can be a very personal, fun experience for most people. For example, a couple of years ago I decided that I wanted to visit my home, Vietnam. Both of my parents are from Vietnam, but I was born in Arizona. Thank god though, my parents taught me the vietnamese language before English and now I am fluent in both languages. It's much harder going to places without knowing how to speak to others, but I had no problem. 

I would have to say the worse part of the travel experience was the 16+ hour airplane flights. I was sick to my stomach. Although, when I finally got to my destination everything was better and I could finally breathe. Vietnam is breathtaking in most places, but I got to see some real abandoned areas. It made me realize that we have so much, and some people have so little. Yet, they are still happy with what they have. Being there made me appreciate my life. 

Some things I got do was go to some museums, and places for tourists. One of my favorite thing I did, was being able to ride on an elephant! It was so much fun and everything looked so beautiful. 

Most importantly, it felt like I was eating good every single day I was there. Which I am totally not complaining about. My most favorite vietnamese dish is called "Pho". It's a broth noodle soup. Sounds so simple but, it's the best food out there in my opinion. I was eating so much that I caught food poisoning. Worse thing ever. I felt like my life was ending slowly but surely. I was enjoying Vietnam, but I wanted to make it home too. After about 2 days, I began feeling better and went out with my family for some more fun. I couldn't let that food poisoning ruin my trip.

I wish I could travel to Vietnam every year to visit my family and just be able to be there, but it's very expensive. I haven't gone back in about 6 years, but my plan is to go in about 2 more years. I recommend for everyone to experience visiting Vietnam! 

Entry #5. Food Inc

After being able to experience watching, Food Inc. I just feel like American society can be very inconsiderate of each other and to our animals. It made me feel sad for these animals because we are hurting them to satisfy ourselves. We do more and more each year, and it's a topic most people don't even think about for a second. That's truly sad because we wouldn't want it the other way around. Animals have hearts and feelings like we do. So why are we hurting them like this and why so many of them? I understand that it's good for our growth and such, but one day I feel like it will just be so overpowering (more than it is already) that we start to run out and people will go mad. One thing that says a lot to me is how the movie stated that some of these big brand named meat companies for example, Tyson did not want to join in on this movie. Why? Something bad that's hidden obviously. Something worse that we haven't already been able to see by the one farmer woman who let us see the inside of her farm. If that's bad already, I wonder what the other farming people are up to. Some of that woman's chickens are so big that some of them are unable to walk. We are so greedy on meat that these poor animals are suffering every single way possible. Continuing to watch this movie, made me feel angrier and angrier. So, it really makes me want to become a vegetarian. I am only one person, but one person can do a lot for our world. More people need to stand up for these innocent animals and become vegetarian themselves because the hurt we're causing is not okay. The numbers have gotten so high on meet produce that sometimes it gives me no faith upon our world. It's something that has grown so huge that I feel like there's not stopping it now. A miracle would have to occur for something like that to happen. I think it is important that Americans know what they are inserting into their body from their mouth. It's going to affect these people in the long run. They can die from what they are consuming. That's how big of a deal all of this is, but it seems like more people don't care so it is a really hard topic to fight about. For myself, I'm going to stand up for these animals and not continue to eat them. That's how much of an impact this movie has made on me. I hope that we can change our food world little by little so everyone can live longer and eat real good food.

Entry #4.Macbeth

One of William Shakespeare's greatest works, also known as his most darkest/powerful works, is when he created the tragedy called Macbeth. It's a play that displays how far a man will go to reach to the top, but at the same time will get what he deserves. This man was Macbeth who basically wanted to be next in line to be King and would do anything to reach that position. Yes, even murder. Throughout the whole play, there are plenty of lessons(themes) to learn. Now why do people formulate a theme in their writing? Themes can be really important in a writing and make people
consider what they are reading about. In Macbeth, here are a few themes that were generated:

1. Power can corrupt your mind and body. 

• The three witches put into Macbeth's mind that he will be King. So, he decides to go chase after that in the wrong way. 
• Lady Macbeth is Macbeth's wife, who wants her husband to be King just as much as he does. Macbeth starts off as a good man who loves and hails his King. However, his wife gets into his head and creates evil thoughts. Leading him into killing important people in his life.

2. Let nature take its course rather than free will.

• Macbeth was already predicted to be king, but he took it upon himself to make it happen. For this reason, his wife, among other important people ended up dead. Macbeth should have believed in his prophecy and let nature take its course basically. Even if it was going to be years later, the whole purpose was for him to just let things happen on its own.

3. Beware of being overly ambitious. 

• This is one of the most transparent themes you learn through Macbeth's character. Ambition is not the mistaken part, but being overboard ambitious (killing/lieing/deceiving) in order to succeed is not what is recommended. 
• In the end, Macbeth fails and gains nothing from his actions.

Entry #3. Shifted Society

The Wall-E video may only be under 5 minutes, but sends about 5 million little messages for the world to open their eyes and see. Which most of us clearly can't. Personally, watching this video makes me feel very apprehensive for our present-day society and for the future as well. As you can see in the video (click to see it!), there's a lot going on. Boom, right away there's technology here, there, and everywhere throughout the whole screen. However, you see these overweight looking characters just depending on all sorts of technology. It's like they don't even blink. One of them falls off the high tech moving chairs and Wall-E is there to pick him back up. This whole snippet of the video represents how American society is today. Everyone is too busy on their phones, laptops, ipads, or whatever and a number of these people depend to get through their days with these items. With this in mind, this leads to us being more lazy and dependent on something other than ourselves. What would we really be without these kinds of high tech components? Miserable.  There's a scene where itty bitty little babies are born into that technology world already. Sort of showing how kids today know nothing but the technology life. It's not necessarily a bad thing but kids back then went outside to play, and were taught verbally and physically by a teacher. Teachers didn't try and use some kind second hand tool to teach the kids. It was their own knowledge. Kids nowadays can just enter any type of question they need answered and Google will 99.9% come up with some kind of answer. Which causes kids to stop thinking. Another scene, is where everyone in their red clothes, all at once, changes into a blue outfit. Everyone wears the same outfit, but they didn't have to get up or move a nail in order to have their clothes changed. Most importantly, you see that these characters don't actually move at all; therefore, everything else around them moves, and supports these people in every way possible. I guess you would see that as the good life but only people today would say that because most of us have created that huge layer of laziness on ourselves. Thinking that this sort of laziness is okay, is not. Technology is an awesome invention, but it's gotten out of hands. Wall-e is a character that realizes how bad it's getting and tries to help, but he knows it'll be hard to take care of.

To sum up our society today in a few words are:

• lazy
• dependent
• interactions changing
• adapting to new things
• addictive
• brain-washed

Entry #2. Four Basic Types of Shoplifters

Shoplifting offenders come from all ages, races, and walks of life. Why do people feel the need to steal? Aren't they afraid of getting caught up and going to jail? It's hard to believe that someone would dare to take something and not pay for it. However, if you work in retail like myself, you'll experience people stealing here and there. About a week ago, I actually experienced a young teenage girl stealing some of my store's clothes. I couldn't believe that a young girl like her had the balls to come into my store and take some of our clothing items and walk out. I immediately ran after her when the alarms went off, asked her to come back, and had security take care of her. Believe it or not, there are about 27 million shop lifters (or 1 in 11 people) in our nation today. That's some scary stuff. So, here are some types of shoplifters you can educate yourself about.


The Compulsive Shoplifter represents over 50% of all the other kinds of shoplifters combined. When the compulsive type of shoplifters steal, they do it for the "thrill", which satisfies their urges. This urge is usually driven by an emotional need, such as early childhood losses, or other addictions this person may already have. Low self-esteem can drive someone to steal so that they can feel good about themselves afterwards. Instead, they end up feeling some sort of shame and guilt that adds onto their emotional pain already. Which fuels these people to continue to shoplift one time after another. These people will end up hitting a downward spiral until they seek for real help.


The teen "Impulsive Thrill Seeker" shoplifter consists of approximately 15% of shoplifters. They tend to operate in groups or pairs. Many teenagers that seek for the thrill end up feeling too much shame or finally getting caught, which will make them stop immediately. However, there are some that get trapped into the cycle of a Compulsive Shoplifting. More than 50% of all adult shoplifters said they started in their teens.


The "Impoverished" Shoplifter, which roughly consists of 15% of all shoplifters steal only to survive. These people usually don't want to, but feel like they need to. More often, you'll see a woman who desperately needs the basic necessities to keep herself and her family alive. They tend not to take their responsibility for their actions, and start to blame "the system". Unfortunately, this kind of blaming behavior causes these people to steal and prevents them from having any kind of change.


The Professional Shoplifter will consist of about 13-15% of all shoplifters. Their purpose is to keep up with their expensive lifestyle or a serious drug addiction. These people most likely work alone and steal more expensive items at one time. Upon capture they will show absolutely no remorse which is very sad for them.


Like I have said, working in retail you'll experience these kinds of shoplifters. You'll be surprised, shoplifters, often times, have the most devious plans that trick people into thinking they aren't doing anything wrong. Theft has gone down a good amount though because stores have made it much more difficult for these people to get away with it. With all the camera's, security tags, and security doors...people should never steal! They should work for these things.

Entry #1. Must Read Blogs

In my opinion, I think blogs are pretty interesting and my favorite kind are the personal kind of blogs. Personal blogs can get really honest and nothing but the truth is told and that's the kind of stuff I like to read. A little while back, my cousin actually persuaded me to create a tumblr account. Tumblr is a very popular site for people who like to blog and get creative. I got hooked fast and I could stay on there for hours either going through other user's pages or customizing mine so people would do the same for me. What I am attracted most to are really cool pictures too. They're fun to see and getting likes from a lot of people was exciting because it only meant people were actually seeing what you were posting. However, there are some blogs out there that I will not even give a slight chance on reading. I don't want to waste my time on things I don't care about, so I stick to reading the ones that entertain me. So, I have randomly picked three blogs that I would like to go over a little bit.

If you are a celebrity you most likely do not want to appear on TMZ because TMZ is basically a news website where they release information to the public and most of the time it's not going to be something positive. Other times, it's just informational news about some celebrities that TMZ wants to simply put out there for people to be entertained. The entertainment of the TMZ blog is what gets everyone going. Readers just want to keep reading more and more so they have something to talk about. For example, as I am reading through some things on this page, I find out that Kim Kardashian is finally having a second baby. I had no idea and I think that's amazing. If anyone is a fan like myself of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, then you have seen Kim struggle in some of her recent episodes on conceiving another child. Therefore, looks like she's at it again, and if this is the truth then we will definitely see this news on her show as well. I really enjoyed going through this blog myself because some information that I read are just unbelievable and makes me laugh. If a blog is fun to read, count me in!

The Post secret blog can be jaw dropping... I have never seen or read any blog as interesting as this one before. Post Secret is a blog that people share their own real life secrets on because they are people who have willingly mailed their secrets to this blog website on the back of a postcard. Surprisingly, they are the most brutal truths from actual people. That makes me see that so many people in this world live so many secret lives and some are really really crazy secrets that I cannot even fathom. For example, I read a secret that said "I work on a suicide hotline. I'm just as, if not more, unstable as the callers. I think about killing myself everyday." This blog makes you really think and see how sad life can be (even the background is pitch black, which is a sad color for me), but it also makes you realize you probably have it a lot better than others. This blog can make you an emotional wreck but it is one worth going through.

Bitch Ph.D. was probably my least favorite blog to read because the title already starts off so vulgar. It's always a good idea to have catchy things to read on your page but when they're so spiteful every sentence you get a bite of, it's not really fun to read anymore. As I read through the blog, I understand that, Silvana, the author of this blog is very angry towards a certain topic. However, there are many different ways she could have went about expressing her feelings. I respect that she is standing up for her own thoughts and beliefs, but this is something I wouldn't really want to read over again.
